What types of implants do you use? What are the risks associated with this type of surgery?

Filed under: Cheek Augmentation — Dr. Ira D. Papel @ 12:41 pm

Question:
I have very nondescript cheekbones. I would like them enhanced and I think that cheek augmentation with an implant is the best way to go. What types of implants do you use? What are the risks associated with this type of surgery?

Answer:
Cheek implants have been used for many years, and when done correctly can be very effective to enhance the midface. Now we also have alternatives such as injectable fillers and fat transfer procedures. Each of these three methods has advantages and disadvantages. A consultation with a qualified facial plastic surgeon can help you sort out these considerations.
