Will a chemical peel help reduce my wrinkles and poor skin?

Filed under: Chemical Peel — admin @ 12:12 pm

Question:
I have been a smoker for the past 40 years. Will a chemical peel help reduce my wrinkles and poor skin?

Answer:
Any face will be helped by a carefully planned skin are regimen, which would involve a retinoid, toner, moisture, and eventually a chemical peel or laser treatment. The degree of improvement will depend on your skin type and the amount of damage present before treatment starts.

I’ve lived in California all of my life, and now that I’m in my 50’s my skin is showing signs of sun damage.

Question:
I’ve lived in California all of my life, and now that I’m in my 50’s my skin is showing signs of sun damage. Is a chemical peel my best option for lessening these effects?

Answer:
After years of sun exposure rehabilitating your skin may take a coordinated program supervised by a skin care professional. A combination of retinoids, cleansers, pigment modifiers, and sunscreens are usually the initial treatment, followed by chemical peels and/or laser treatments. After a few months your skin should have a healthier and younger look. Skin care is a lifelong commitment.
