I’m a 64-year-old male and I’ve noticed as I’ve gotten older that my nose has gotten more and more droopy at the tip.

Question:
I’m a 64-year-old male and I’ve noticed as I’ve gotten older that my nose has gotten more and more droopy at the tip. Is this something that can be fixed with a nose job and what would be any concerns for surgery given my age? Would my nose continue to droop afterward?

Answer:
Gravity affects all parts of the body, including the nasal tip. As we get older the tip support structures weaken and gravity takes over. This often results in a longer looking nose, with a relative hump where none existed before. There is help with rhinoplasty procedures to add tip support and position the tip where it used to be. Cartilage grafts are usually the method of choice. If you are in good health your age is not a major factor. This type of procedure frequently helps nasal breathing by adding support to the airway.
